Massage chairs for the living room — reclining armchairs with built-in vibration massage, most of them with a heated lumbar zone, and around half with powered lift assistance for easier standing. All 28 chairs in this collection are armchairs first and massage units second, so they work as ordinary seating when the massage is switched off.

What is in this collection

  • Eight-point vibration massage — 24 of the 28 chairs, with motors grouped across the back, lumbar, thighs and legs, and typically three modes and three intensity levels.
  • Six-point and ten-point designs — three six-point chairs and one ten-point armchair that puts six motors in the back, two in the seat and two in the footrest.
  • Lumbar heat — 20 of the 28 add a warming panel in the lower back, several with a 15, 30 or 60-minute timer.
  • Power lift models — 13 chairs raise the whole seat to help you stand, with lift angles published at 20 and 45 degrees.
  • Convenience features — position-memory buttons, quiet brushless motors, USB and USB-C charging, cup holders and remote-control pockets.
  • Recliner and storage-ottoman sets — where the leg support is a separate footstool that also opens for storage.

What vibration massage does, and what it does not

Every chair in this collection uses vibration motors set into the upholstery. None of them uses a roller track, so if you are looking for the kneading, rolling shiatsu action of a full-body massage capsule, this is not that category — worth knowing before you order rather than after it arrives. What vibration does well is warm and loosen a tired lower back while you sit, particularly paired with the heated lumbar panel, and it costs a fraction of a roller chair.

Two practical points. The massage function needs mains power, so the chair has to sit within reach of a socket even if the recline is manual; and the massage and the recline are separate systems on most models, so a manual-recline chair with massage still needs you to push the back yourself.

How much space to leave

These are large chairs. Upright they run roughly 68 cm to 96 cm wide, and fully reclined they reach 114 cm to 170 cm front to back. The powered lift models also rise: allow for a raised height of up to 143 cm when the seat tilts forward. Only two listings publish a recommended wall clearance, both at 60 cm, so measure the reclined depth against your floor space rather than assuming the chair tilts within its own footprint.

Seat heights run 46 cm to 52.5 cm, which is higher than a standard armchair — deliberate on a lift chair, since a higher seat is easier to rise from, but worth checking against your own leg length. Maximum loads run from 120 kg to 180 kg and are published on every listing.

Massage chair FAQs

Are these full-body shiatsu massage chairs?

No. All 28 use vibration motors rather than a roller or 3D track, so they soothe and warm rather than knead. They are reclining armchairs with massage built in, not massage capsules.

Does the chair still work without being plugged in?

The manual-recline models still recline without power; the massage, heat and any powered lift or recline will not work unplugged. Plan a socket within reach of where the chair will stand.

Which models help with standing up?

The 13 power lift chairs, which tilt the seat forward through 20 or 45 degrees. If that is the main reason for buying, compare them with our wider recliner and lift chair range, where 46 chairs have the riser function.

Is the heat function separate from the massage?

On most models yes — the lumbar heater is its own button and can be used without the vibration running, which is often the more comfortable combination for a sore lower back.
