A large wall mirror is one of the simplest ways to make a room feel brighter and more spacious. It bounces daylight around a hallway, doubles the view across a living room and gives a fireplace or console table a natural focal point. This collection focuses on statement wall mirrors: tall arched mirrors, window pane mirrors with wooden glazing bars, and round mirrors in metal finishes.

Sizes run from a 64cm round mirror for a smaller wall up to window mirrors 200cm tall. Every listing gives the full width, height and depth, plus the weight, so you can plan where it will hang and how it will be fixed.

Which mirror shape suits your room?

Window pane mirrors

Window mirrors have wooden glazing bars across the glass, so they look like an old window frame. In whitewashed or washed wood they suit country, coastal and farmhouse rooms, and a tall window mirror on a dark or narrow wall can feel like an extra window.

Black and wooden arched mirrors

Arched mirrors have a rounded top that softens a room full of straight lines. A tall arched window mirror, in black or washed wood, adds height to a hallway or bedroom wall without taking much width, and its glazing bars give the look of a period window.

Round mirrors

Round mirrors work well above a fireplace, sideboard or console, where a circle breaks up the straight edges of the furniture below. Choose a metal finish such as silver foil or gold to add shine, or a multi-mirror design with convex discs for a more decorative, eye-catching piece.

Choosing the right size

  • Above a console table or sideboard, a mirror around two-thirds of the furniture's width looks balanced.
  • Above a fireplace, keep the mirror narrower than the mantelpiece and leave a little space above the mantel shelf.
  • In a hallway, hang a tall mirror where you can see yourself without stepping back into a doorway.
  • Opposite a window, a large mirror reflects the most light, but check what it will reflect from where you sit.

Mark the outline on the wall with masking tape before you buy. It is the easiest way to judge the scale of a large mirror in the room.

How to hang a large mirror safely

Large mirrors are heavy, and some in this collection weigh up to 20kg. Always use wall fixings rated for the mirror's weight and suited to your wall type: solid brick, plasterboard and timber stud walls each need different fixings. Check for hidden pipes and cables before drilling, and hang heavy mirrors with two people. If you lean a tall mirror against a wall instead of hanging it, secure it to the wall so it cannot slide or tip.

Larger mirrors are delivered by a two-person team, and we will contact you to arrange a delivery date.

Caring for your mirror

Clean the glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and a little glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, not straight onto the mirror. Keep cleaner off wooden and painted frames, and wipe those with a dry or slightly damp cloth only.

Wall mirrors: your questions answered

Where should I put a large mirror in a living room?

The most popular spots are above a fireplace, above a sofa or sideboard, or on the wall facing a window, where the mirror reflects the most daylight. Check what the mirror will reflect from where you usually sit, as it will become a focal point.

What size mirror should go above a console table?

A mirror about two-thirds of the console table's width usually looks balanced. Hang it so the bottom edge sits a short distance above the tabletop, leaving room for a lamp or vase without the mirror looking disconnected from the table.

Do wall mirrors come with hanging fixings?

Check each listing for what is included. Even where fittings are attached to the back, you will need wall fixings rated for the mirror's weight and suitable for your wall, whether that is brick, plasterboard or timber stud.

How do you hang a large, heavy mirror?

Find the studs or confirm your wall type, then use two fixings rated well above the mirror's weight: heavy-duty plugs for brick, cavity fixings for plasterboard, or screws into timber studs. Check for pipes and cables before drilling, use a spirit level, and lift the mirror into place with two people.

Can I lean a tall mirror against the wall instead of hanging it?

You can, but a leaning mirror should always be secured to the wall at the top so it cannot slide or tip, especially in homes with children or pets. Stand it on a level floor and keep it out of busy walkways.

Do mirrors make a small room look bigger?

Yes. A large mirror reflects light and the room itself, which makes a small or dark space feel more open. It works best on a wall facing or next to a window, where it can bounce daylight further into the room.

Are arched mirrors still in style?

Arched mirrors remain a popular choice because the curved top softens rooms full of straight lines and suits both period and modern homes. A black arched mirror gives a crisp, graphic outline, while washed or whitewashed wood feels softer and more relaxed.
