What height massage table do you need?
Set the table so you can work without stooping. A common rule of thumb is to stand beside it with your arms relaxed: the top should sit roughly level with your knuckles, or a little lower for firmer techniques. The wooden tables here adjust from about 67 to 92 cm and the aluminium tables from about 61 to 84 cm with nine settings each. Remember the client adds height once they lie down, so test the setting with someone on the table before your first booking.
Portable massage table checklist
- Folded size – the folding tables pack down to about 91 × 60 cm, the wooden one 16 cm thick, so check it fits your car boot.
- Room to work – the tops here are 60–62 cm wide; leave space to walk all the way round the table.
- Load ratings – look for static and working (dynamic) loads where listed; the beauty bed gives 220 kg and 150 kg.
- Hygiene – a fitted cover or couch roll keeps the faux leather fresh between clients.
Massage tables: your questions answered
What is the difference between a massage table and a beauty bed?
A massage table usually has a flat top and a face rest for clients lying face down. A beauty bed has sections that recline, such as a raised back and adjustable leg rest, for facials, lash and nail treatments. The three-section bed here can lie flat or recline.
How much weight can a massage table hold?
The tables here are rated for 220–250 kg. The beauty bed also lists a 150 kg dynamic, or working, load, which allows for movement and pressure during a treatment, so check both figures where they are given.
Is a wooden or aluminium massage table better?
Both work well, so it comes down to preference. The beech-framed tables here go a little higher, to about 92 cm, and come with a carry bag, while the aluminium tables go lower, to about 61 cm, and have a 10-position head section.
How do you clean a faux leather massage table?
Wipe the top with a soft cloth and mild soapy water after each session, then dry it. Wipe off massage oil promptly, avoid harsh solvents that can dry the surface, and use a fitted cover or couch roll between clients.
